Curio Obscura

I followed an intriguing banner ad from SLX to the Curio Obscura. There I saw twin child avies with porcelain skin and long wavy hair. Identical except for the names. One asking about the sizing of the shoe for sale in the shop. Three avies on the Victorian love seat, a furry with his head in the lap of a dragon and a doll with a turning iron key on her back.

A man came in wearing the copper steampunk avatar that is sold in the shop, and asked the ones on the couch if they knew the creator. Horse whinny in the silence. The reply: We know him but I wouldn't say we were friends.

My camera happened to be focused on and followed one of the twins as she walked away and shrunk into the distance on the infinitely flat green outside. Horse whinny in the silence.

The Ballad of Sylvia and Crispini

I was working on poses based on the famous John Lennon/Yoko Ono nude photographs. I was logged in as both my female main avatar and my male alt, Crispini Laszlo, juggling two viewers and poseballs. My male alt's then boyfriend came by my studio unannounced as was his habit. Being a real life Brit, he was so embarrassed, thinking he had stumbled on his boyfriend with a woman. Even though he knew what project I was working on and had spent time with both my main (female) avatar and my alt (male). I tried to assure him. There is nothing going on. This is strictly a business relationship. Both the avatars were me.

Newbie Discovers Satellite and Talking Penguin

I was just few months in Second Life, browsing a small animation store one day. One other resident was there by the name of Jessil Sputnik. We struck up a bit of chat. Then she began to rezz things from her inventory. A ridable cow. A leaping dolphin. A penguin. A unicorn horn. I was utterly charmed. She was such a free spirit. No money, no land, possessing only freebies and knowing how to amuse herself. I said something about the penguin and the penguin said, "Hello, Sylvia". We were both so surprised. She didn't know the penguin was scripted for chat. I picked up "heh" from her. It fit. She tried the kissing animation on display and what could I do but click on the other ball and take a snap. I like to think of her as still orbiting, flying fast and free.

Skinning Poem

I spent 6 weeks making a photosourced skin using photos from the photosource subscription service called 3d.sk Here is a poem I wrote about that model.

model

how can I translate you to another surface your eye's recess your mathematical tenderness the shadow of revolution over your aristocratic nose your veins rolling over crevasses your too red legs stark flesh that has taken root did the light scatter under your surface did you witness the photographer turning into a werewolf howling at the fullness of your ass did the manager grouse about shifting the talent to after lunch did the session pay for a new muffler a bottle of whiskey jellybean shoes did you go home to a flat where everything is painted white

Sleeping Dreams of Second Life

I have sleeping dreams about second life all the time. I am learning so much and the brain organizes newly learned stuff during dreams. Some dream scenes are framed by the building editor. I try to fine tune the rotation of that linked prim by just a few degrees and it swings about wildly. Stop it! Or I dream about a real life interior space that was made to resemble SL rooms with badly seamed plaster and cubes floating to the top of the walls. I dreamed of making a "costume" from my sculpties that we not intended to be worn. When I logged in the next morning I just had to try it. "I'm ready for my audition, Mr. Ziegfeld."
